So, what is Iyengar® Yoga?
At a very simple level, Yoga is a series of poses (‘asanas’) that work on the body, the breathing and the mind. The Yoga path was written down over 2000 years ago in The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
Iyengar® Yoga is named after a pioneering Indian teacher, Yogacharya Sri BKS Iyengar.
Iyengar taught recently until the age of 95 both in India and worldwide. Iyengar® Yoga focuses on correct posture and alignment, builds physical strength and gives you greater flexibility. We use supports (‘props’) that help you progress safely, at your own pace and to suit your individual ability.
With regular practice you can soon start to see your physical health improve. As your practice deepens, you may experience greater confidence, a calmer mind and a more positive outlook on life.
All teachers are trained to a very high standard and fully insured. This is part of reason that this Yoga method is one of the most widely performed worldwide.

Through Yoga, serenity of mind,
Through Grammar, clarity of speech,
Through Medicine, purity of body,
Patanjali, I honour you.
Whose upper body has a human form,
Who holds a conch and discus,
Who is crowned by a thousand headed cobra,
I salute the sage and scholar Patanjali.
